Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 7, 2026

This policy explains what information Receipt App ("the app," "we," "us") collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. It applies to the mobile app and the account it creates for you.

Information we collect

We do not collect your full payment card number or banking details — the app only stores the receipt information described above.

The app requests camera and photo library access solely so you can scan a receipt QR code or capture/choose a receipt photo. We don't access your camera or photos for any other purpose.

How we use this information

We use your information solely to operate the app's core features: authenticating you, displaying your receipt history, generating your shopping list from past purchases, and remembering your favorite stores. Your saved receipts are also there so you can show proof of purchase — such as itemized items and prices, or a scannable code — directly from your phone when requesting a return or exchange at a store, even if you've lost the paper copy. Note that receipts added from a photo are self-reported by you and, unlike QR-claimed receipts, are not independently verified against the store's own records — the app makes this distinction clear when you show a receipt to store staff. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How your information is stored and protected

Data is stored using Google Firebase, a cloud infrastructure provider. Access is restricted so that you can only read and write your own account data — other users cannot see your receipts, and our backend systems verify that requests genuinely come from this app before processing them. If you add a receipt from a photo, that image is additionally sent to Anthropic's API for one-time text extraction, subject to Anthropic's own privacy and data-handling terms.

The app lets you optionally share a copy of a specific receipt with another Receipt App user, by entering their account email — for example, sharing back a receipt for something you were asked to buy on someone else's behalf. This only happens when you actively choose to share a specific receipt, is limited to once per receipt, and only shares the receipt data described above (store, items, prices, date) — never your account credentials or other receipts.

Data retention and deletion

Receipts are retained based on the retention period in your account settings (5 years by default), after which they are eligible for deletion. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below.

How to delete your Receipt App account

You can delete your account directly in the app: tap the account icon in the top right of your receipt list, then "Delete account." This is immediate and permanent. If you'd rather not use the app to do this, you can instead email ucgina@gmail.com from the address associated with your account with the subject "Delete my Receipt App account," and we'll confirm and process the deletion within a few business days.

Deleting your account permanently removes: your account credentials, all saved receipts (store names, items, prices, and dates), your favorite stores, and your shopping list. We do not retain a copy of this data after deletion, and there is no additional retention period beyond processing the request.

Your choices

You can sign out of the app at any time. You can remove stores from your favorites within the app. To access, correct, or delete your personal information, contact us using the details below.

Children's privacy

This app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
